Bhedetar Travel Guide: Distance from Itahari, Weather, Things to Do & Best Hotels

Nestled in the lush green hills of eastern Nepal, Bhedetar is a charming hill station that offers a perfect escape from the heat of the Terai. Located in Dhankuta District and just above Dharan, Bhedetar sits at an altitude of around 1,420 meters, welcoming visitors with cool breezes, misty hills, and breathtaking panoramic views.

Distance, Travel Time, and Route

Bhedetar is one of the most accessible hill destinations from Itahari. The distance is حوالي 38 km, and it usually takes around 1 to 1.5 hours to reach by road. The journey passes through Dharan and then ascends along the scenic hill road toward Bhedetar.

The road condition is generally good. The section from Itahari to Dharan is smooth and well-paved, while the uphill road from Dharan to Bhedetar is winding with sharp turns. Although the road is blacktopped, travelers should drive carefully, especially during foggy mornings and the monsoon season when landslides can occasionally occur.

Transport Facilities

Reaching Bhedetar is convenient with multiple transport options available. Regular buses and microbuses operate from Itahari and Dharan. For a more comfortable journey, travelers often choose private cars or motorbikes, which also allow them to enjoy the scenic beauty along the way. Shared jeeps are another quick option from Dharan.

Weather in Bhedetar

One of the main attractions of Bhedetar is its pleasant and cool weather throughout the year. Compared to the hot plains of Sunsari, Bhedetar offers a refreshing climate.

Generally, temperatures in Bhedetar remain mild, ranging from around 12°C to 28°C depending on the season. Summers are cool and comfortable, making it an ideal escape from the Terai heat, while winters can be slightly chilly, especially in the mornings and evenings.
During the monsoon (June to September), the area receives significant rainfall, which enhances the greenery but may affect travel plans due to slippery roads.

Things to Do in Bhedetar

Bhedetar offers a blend of natural beauty, adventure, and cultural experiences. One of the newest attractions is the skywalk, where visitors can enjoy thrilling views from above the hills. The viewpoint towers also provide stunning sunrise and sunset views.

A short hike from the main bazaar leads to Pathibhara Temple, a sacred site believed to fulfill wishes of devotees.

For a cultural experience, head to Namje Village, located about 2.5 km away. This village is famous for its community homestay, where visitors can experience authentic local lifestyle, traditional food, and warm hospitality.

Nature lovers can also explore nearby waterfalls like Namaste Jharna, enjoy short hikes, or simply relax in the peaceful environment.

Hotels and Accommodation

Bhedetar offers a variety of hotels suitable for different budgets. Some popular options include Hideaway, Hotel Maden Inn, Hotel Hill View Bhedetar, and Hotel Rajdarbar. These hotels provide comfortable rooms, scenic views, and warm hospitality, making your stay enjoyable and relaxing. However, it is highly recommended to book a room in advance. In seasons, it will be very difficult to get rooms, and in those cases, you have to drive down to Dharan and stay there.

Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat, a short adventure, or a cultural experience, Bhedetar offers it all. Its cool weather, scenic beauty, and easy accessibility from Itahari and Dharan make it one of the most beautiful and convenient tourist destinations in eastern Nepal. A visit to Bhedetar is not just a trip—it’s a refreshing experience that stays with you long after you return.
